    Since both Presley and Lennon had deep "mommy issues" it's logical each would recognize in the other that which he most detested in himself.

    Lennon had the right to voice his opinions. He was a human being, not a god. Much of his music after Beatles is shitty. Take "Well, Well, Well." Yuch. 🤮 👎 Joni Mitchell has never-ever sunk down to such lows.

      I'm working class, and I have no fear or resentment towards the middle class in general. Some contempt for middle class labour politicians pretending to be working class. Same for middle class rock and pop stars that pretend they were from the rough end of town when they grew up in the leafy suburbs.

    “filthy unkempt hair and suggestive music “ is totally rich as this was exactly what the early Elvis Presley was accused of. Presley was jealous that his own music had gone down the drain in the early 60s and the Beatles had built on his early music. He had this later virtuous non drinking image but severe problems with dangerous prescription drugs In his early years, he was a pretty innocent kid who was a music enthusiast and a great white rhythm and blues singer.

    So what's next in the series- musicians who couldn't stand draft beer? How about who couldn't stand baloney sandwiches? When it comes down to it there's two questions at play here; who cares and why do they care? We don't remember music or much of anything else because of the personal likes and dislikes of the famous. We only remember it because we either liked or disliked it ourselves. There's no requirement or usually even no notice about whether the people who performed what we like or disliked were themselves likeable or not. That's just soap opera.

    People that nitpick HOW people try to better the world are incredibly lame, especially the ones that do very little themselves. Lennon didn´t do everything right, but he was braver than most other artists in history. He really put it all on the line, and ultimately paid with his life because someone didn´t appreciate his opinions. So yeah, people can be cynical and nitpick, but you´re incredibly lame compared to a person that actually tried, and did some good for the world.

    Freddie Lennon did not abandon John, Johns' mother Julia was unfaithful to Freddie and in spite of that Freddie, in the merchant marines in WW2, sent money to Julia on a regular basis for Johns' care. When he found out Julia was PG by another man, Freddie even offered to support the other mans' son. Fred Lennon grew up in an orphanage and had rickets, which stunted his growth. He did not try to cash in on Johns' success, he was a fine singer, and the songs were quite nice. All of these ignorant comments are hateful! When Fred was on his deathbed, John called him to apologize.

    Because he was a sadistic jerk, he’s the Beatle who liked to ridicule the handicapped. This is just one story of Lennon’s cruelty: Lennon was in a local pub where a very young Jewish pianist had been hired to play the piano. Lennon began to mock the boy’’s playing and told him ‘the Nazis should have burned you up like they did the rest of the Jews.’ The boy kept playing but tears ran down his face as Lennon kept humiliating him. Imagine that.

    There is always someone who thinks they are superior and who can dictate what is right or wrong to others. It's not true. U2 always respected the Beatles. George talks about egos, but the Beatles split up after 5 years, U2 still have the original members for 40 years. In their songs they talk about the humanity's problems. Terrorism (S. Bloody Sunday) war, (Miss Sarayevo), abusive governments (Mothers Of The Disappeared, Walk on). Drug abuse (Bad, To Stand Still). Dedicated songs to Martin Luther King (MLK, Pride) B.B. King (Love C to Town), victims of Hiroshima and Nagashaki (Unforgettable Fire), September 11th (Superbowl), Katrina. Bono wrote songs for his Father (Sometimes ...your own), Mother (Iris), Wife (All I W. is You). Supported Irish bands (Clannad, Cramberries, Corrs). Participated in many solidarity concerts (Live Aid, Live 8). Donated millions of dollars to humanitarian organizations, against AIDS (One), malaria, coronavirus (Invisible) Of course they have flaws like any of us.

    George is right! I get tired of their politics. I listen and play music to escape the world, sin and the wiles of the devil. Music is spiritual but for U2, all they talk about is, "did I push you the wrong way", or like in this video, "Bono bagged on George"? Red flag. U2 can make a come back? If they bare fruit worthy of repentance. Catholics don't read their bible though so how would they know that scripture? Or any for that matter? They claim to be christian, right? Maybe they should talk and sing about love? Ya ....

    • @fartpooboxohyeah8611
      @fartpooboxohyeah8611 9 днів тому

      Not really. It's been almost 30 years since George made those comments and U2 is not only "remembered" but very much still relevant. And despite his choice in hats, David Evans and the other members, not named Bono, are humble and not caught up in the celebrity of it all. U2 wrote some great songs in their heyday that are now classics. On the other hand I've always thought Dylan was full of it and this was confirmed when Joni Mitchell in an LA Times interviewer compared the two of them, with Mitchell responding, “We are like night and day, [Dylan] and I,” she said. “Bob is not authentic at all. He’s a plagiarist, and his name and voice are fake. Everything about Bob is a deception.”

    McCartney actually had a very Doors-like song on his debut solo album in 1970 called Momma Miss America. No doubt the Doors heard it. Had they joined forces it would have been interesting. It wouldn’t have happened under the Doors name. They would have been called Wings or something else. McCartney was a great singer at the top of his form. He wouldn’t have wanted to be a replacement stuck in a formula or in a quasi tribute band. They could’ve been great had they teamed and started something new.
